Elevator Pitch No. 2

A couple of the main critiques people had about my last pitch was that I was messing with my hair too much and I kept reading off of my notes. I was told that this is distracting, and I definitely agree. I guess I didn't realize it because playing with my hair is a nervous habit and I thought I wasn't being too obvious about reading my notes. However, after I looked back at it I realized it was very distracting from what I was trying to say. This time, I made a conscious effort to not play with my hair and I completely memorized my script.

Another suggestion I received that I thought was a very good point was that there should be a contact line just in case the 5-step process doesn't work in calming the user down. I thought this was a wonderful idea so I adapted it and put it in my service as well as my sales pitch.

Over all, my feedback was very good about my concept and what I am trying to do with my product. Thanks to everyone who gave me such great suggestions! I think everyone can relate in some way to feeling ridiculously stressed, and this app could be expanded to so many more people. I'm hoping to make a difference in the world in some way, and maybe MyCalm will allow me to do that.

  1. Hey Morgan!
So happy I get the chance to comment on your post! You have a great idea going here and I can tell you used the skills we learned in class this summer together, which is awesome! You seem very comfortable in front of the camera which is great because most people don't. Your idea seems like it has great potential. I really liked how you mentioned that you have anxiety. Bringing your personal life into your elevator pitch was very smart and definitely kept me engaged. Also, MyCalm is a very creative name! Great work! Seems like you improved a lot from the first pitch! Can't think of anything else to critique you on.

  2. Morgan,

I think your second pitch was great! You did well with not reading off of your notes or messing with your hair. I too had issues reading off of my notes, but I did not have much time to practice! If did not have 4 other classes I may have been able to avoid this! I also thought your idea was great! Keep up the good work!

  3. Morgan,
I really like your idea and I definitely think it has some potential due to the large target audience. I thought your pitch itself went really well and you definitely fixed the issues you pointed out such as playing with your hair and reading off your notes. I definitely had a problem looking at my notes in the first one which didn't come off as professional which I fixed as well. You seemed very poised and well dressed which added to the already great idea into making a solid elevator pitch.

  4. Morgan, I think you did an excellent job in your second pitch by correcting your mistakes and making your presentation look professional and well put-together. You seemed to be confident in what you were saying, which makes a big difference for the audience as we want to assume that you are passionate about whatever you might be doing. Try to remember to keep the pitch around a minute or so though so you can retain the audience's attention. Here's my pitch in case you want to watch it: http://jakesmithent3003.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-no-2.html
